Bam Adebayo registered a record night after putting up 83 points in the Miami Heat’s last game against the Washington Wizards. He broke Kobe Bryant’s 81-point outing and placed his name just after Wilt Chamberlain, whose 100-point game doesn’t even have a recording. However, the historic feat has drawn criticism from various sections of fans and analysts.
Adebayo attempted 43 free throws in the game, 11 more than Chamberlain, when he scored 100 points. Rapper Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr. also joined the conversation on X. He wrote:
“A group of refs decide to send bam to the line more than anyone’s ever been. Randomly. On a Tuesday. A call was made dawg. And now….. who knows what’s genuine in the league?”
Several fans and analysts have pointed out the way the Heat center drew fouls the entire game. The offense tried its best to get the New Jersey native the most points in the fourth quarter.
Jackson Jr. also shared doubt on the historic comeback that LeBron James and Co. pulled off for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. They came back after trailing the 7-game series 3-1 and won the NBA finals. Ice Cube’s son apologized to Steph Curry’s wife for the Golden State Warriors’ loss in the 2016 NBA finals and added:
“I don’t believe the 3-1 finals anymore. I’m sorry Ayesha curry. They all laughed at you.”
Ice Cube’s son rants with multiple now-deleted posts after Bam Adebayo’s 83-point haul
O’Shea Jackson Jr. shared several posts on X, criticizing the league for deliberately trying to break Chamberlain’s historic record. In a string of posts, he also mentioned ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith and said that SAS should talk about this on his show.
Some posts have now been deleted.

Smith is known for sharing unfiltered thoughts about the sport on his show, First Take, on ESPN. Fans have clearly expressed their disappointment with the way Adebayo earned his right to be next to the legendary Wilt Chamberlain and surpass Kobe Bryant.
