‘Jalen’ might be one of the most common first names in the NBA, so much so that an internet personality decided to make a song about it. The track gained massive engagement on social media, as fans loved the concept. The music content creator and podcaster names several Jalens in the video.
In a video posted on Instagram by the content creator, Rainey Ovalle, he musically detailed the number of Jalens in the league. The song explained that out of 607 players in the NBA, 16 are named Jalen. In some teams, like the OKC Thunder, more than one Jalens are on the same team, Jaylin Williams and Jalen Williams.
The Brooklyn Nets and Orlando Magic are the other two teams with two Jalens. That means more than 50% of the teams in the league have a player named ‘Jalen’. The viral video was captioned:
“From the Fab Five to the next five generations!!
R.I.P. Jeanne “Ma” Rose and Uncle Len”
Even though the stat is not very useful to the NBA, the song has given an interesting angle to the most-used name. Even other leagues like the NFL also have multiple Jalens, which can also be attributed to it being one of the most common first names.

The song by Rainey Ovalle mentioned several NBA players named Jalen. It began with Jalen Hood-Schifino of the Lakers, Jalen Wilson of the Nets, and Jalen Smith of the Bulls, and went to Jalen Duren of the Pistons, Jalen Bridges of the Suns, and Jalen Williams of the Thunder.
However, when it came to one legendary Jalen of all, the rapper pointed to the former NBA legend Jalen Rose. He shouted out the former forward, which even led him to react to the viral song. He wrote on X:
“”The JaleNBA!”
I like that!”
The song is sure to catch the attention of almost every Jalen in the NBA and other leagues.
