Is Silas Demary Jr. Injured? UConn vs. UCLA Injury Report Ahead of March Madness Clash

The UConn Huskies played without Silas Demary Jr. in their first-round NCAA Tournament matchup against the Furman Paladins. The point guard sat out the game due to an injury, but the Huskies managed to register an 82-71 win.

Now in the second round of the tournament, the Huskies are set to face the UCLA Bruins at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The stakes are higher now, and they have a stronger opponent in front of them.

The Huskies would like to have a healthy roster going into the game. However, like many other teams in the country, their roster has been marred by injuries. So, will Silas Demary Jr. play against the Bruins today?

As per CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Demary Jr. has been listed as ‘questionable’ on the injury report due to an ankle injury. Jaylin Stewart of the UConn Huskies is also questionable for the game because of a knee injury.

The Bruins, on the other hand, have just one player on the injury report. Tyler Bilodeau has been listed as questionable with a knee injury. It’s still an upgrade in Demary Jr.’s status as compared to the last game.

He was listed as ‘out’ from the Paladins matchup. Now, he will likely be a game-time decision, and if the coach believes he’s fit, he might lace up for UConn. Before the first round matchup, Demary Jr. was confident that he’d be ready for the game.

However, his questionable status changed to out, which indicated that his ankle injury might have been more serious than people thought. But once again, his status has improved to questionable, so there’s at least a possibility for the Bruins game.

Dan Hurley Spoke on Silas Demary Jr.’s Injury

The Huskies had a good outing against Furman. Tarris Reed Jr. led the team with 31 points, shooting 12 of 15 from the field. He also had 27 rebounds in the game, which helped the Huskies take control.

Alex Karaban provided the much-needed support with 22 points, and the Huskies were able to pull off a hard-fought 82-71 win. After the game, Hurley was asked about Demary Jr.’s injury and possible return.

“I don’t want to make any more predictions. The information that I shared in New York was the information I was provided with. It was close, he tried. Just couldn’t get himself to the point where he felt like he could go. He’s got two more days, and same with Jaylin Stewart. We’ll see how it goes,” he said.

While adding Demary Jr. to the team rotation will boost their chances of winning, the coaching staff will not take any risk by rushing him in.
