Embarrassment for ESPN as Jon Scheyer Interview Suffers Glitch Before NCAA Tournament

A recent ESPN broadcast kept going despite the face of its guest, Duke Blue Devils’ coach Jon Scheyer, being covered by a digital glitch ahead of the 2026 national tournament.

On Sunday, March 15, Scheyer was featured in a guest interview on ESPN’s YouTube channel, wherein he discussed the recent final selection for the official bracket of this year’s March Madness. Hs team is the overall top seed in the national postseason.

At the 1:40 mark of the interview, former Blue Devils star and current sports analyst Jay Williams asked Scheyer how he has coached freshman Cayden Boozer. Scheyer began his answer, but in the midst of his explanation, a digital prompt suddenly appeared on his face that presumably came from a malfunction on the broadcast.

“I thought the maturity, though, to bounce back from the Florida State game, where he didn’t have his best maybe, and then to come back, I mean, I just think that said a lot,” Scheyer said as the prompt came up (2:23).

Fortunately for Scheyer, the digital prompt eventually disappeared as the segment moved on to its next question. Nevertheless, it seems as though Scheyer did not realize the prompt appeared on his face during the remote interview, as he got his point across. For now, the former Duke standout’s focus remains on bringing his program its first national championship in over 10 years, since it last won in 2015.

Jon Scheyer Is Proud Of What Cayden Boozer Has Done In High-Stakes Situations

Right before the aforementioned glitch came up during Jon Scheyer’s guest interview on ESPN ahead of the 2026 March Madness, the fourth-year coach commended Cayden Boozer for the steady work he has done this year, especially in clutch situations.

Scheyer pointed out that ever since veteran Caleb Foster has been ruled out with a foot fracture, Boozer has taken the leap as a perimeter player.

“Well, you know, I’m just so proud of him for what he’s done. You know, he’s really just been so steady the whole year. He’s played in crunch time throughout the whole season. There’s just more on his shoulders now, obviously, with Caleb being out. And, you know, we had great confidence just knowing he was ready for us. So, I didn’t feel like there’s anything special we had to do or to say to him, really just wanted him to be himself,” Scheyer shared (1:59).
