Analyst Makes Thoughts Clear on Milan Momcilovic’s Chances of Committing To Mark Pope’s Kentucky

Former Iowa State forward Milan Momcilovic is currently exploring if his NBA viability, but he does have a fallback plan, and that is to go back to college should it not work out. There are several schools vying for him should he drop out of the draft, and one of them is the Kentucky Wildcats.

What are the chances Kentucky has with Milan Momcilovic though? Insider Jack Pilgrim has made his thoughts clear on this. He said the other suitors, such as St. John’s, Louisville, UCLA and LSU, do not make much sense and that he is a much better fit over at Kentucky, as he could play a much bigger role there.

“I think everything else is for show. I don’t buy any world that St. John’s makes sense in terms of fit for him. I don’t think that what Louisville has done with its roster and what they’ve built and how much money they’ve spent, especially at his position, at the 3 and 4. Like, it makes zero sense for him to commit to either of those schools. Haven’t heard any others pop up. UCLA, LSU have been kind of whispered at times — just by process of elimination and in terms of need, money, role and what Kentucky is pitching this kid. It makes so much sense for this kid to end up at Kentucky,” he said.

He noted that both St. John’s and Louisville already have a very strong 3 or 4 spot, so it both of them would not make sense. As for UCLA and LSU, there is not much traction for them. Only Kentucky makes sense for Milan Moncilovic right now, according to Pilgrim.

Milan Momcilovic Could Cost Kentucky a Lot of NIL Money

Despite him being a good fit for Mark Pope’s squad over at Lexington, Milan Momcilovic may be an expensive recruit for Kentucky. Isaac Trotter of CBS Sports noted that the small forward may be worth around $6 million based on his NIL, and that that may just cost the Wildcats a lot from their NIL war chest.

Pope has been facing the ire of Kentucky fans for not being able to do well over the last few years. However, getting a reliable forward to go with center Malachi Moreno, who may be returning to college, would be a good start for the beleaguered Wildcats.
