Milan Momcilovic declared for the 2026 NBA Draft in April. He also entered his name in the transfer portal, keeping his options open for a possible return to college basketball. Momcilovic has eligibility left and plenty of potential offers on the table.
The 6’8 forward played for the Iowa State Cyclones from 2023 to 2026. In his last season, he averaged 16.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game while shooting 48.7% from the 3-point line.
Momcilovic is currently taking part in the NBA Draft Combine. He spoke with CBS Sports’ Isaac Trotter at the combine, providing details on his plans.
“I’m still focused on the draft,” he said. “I haven’t even talked to any colleges yet, but I’m sure if I have to go back, there is a spot open for me somewhere. I’m still going through this process. The deadline is the 27th of May, so I have a couple of weeks.”
Momcilovic said that he will focus on the combine this week, and then he has some workouts lined up with teams over the next few weeks. St. John’s, Louisville, and the Kentucky Wildcats have reportedly approached Momcilovic.
Last week, it was reported that Kentucky head coach Mark Pope had a Zoom meeting with Momcilovic. The biggest problem that Pope and other programs might face in recruiting the forward is convincing him to play another year of college basketball.
Milan Momcilovic on When He’d Go Back to College Basketball
Milan Momcilovic was recently asked what he’d look for in an NBA offer and what would make him go back to college basketball.
“If there are guaranteed contracts, that would be good. If it’s later in the second round, those are usually two-way contracts, then I’d probably go back. We’ll see,” he said.
“If I return to college, just (find) a fit that I can play well in, and hopefully, help my chances to go to the NBA the year after that. Hopefully I’m on a good team that can go far in the tournament.”
If he decides to go back, the Wildcats will be arguably his best option.
