Game 4 of the NBA Finals was truly something as it drew out celebrities and former Knicks players, including Carmelo Anthony, who brought his son, Syracuse guard Kiyan Anthony with him. Growing up watching his father play for the orange and blue, Kiyan is a massive Knicks fan, considering himself a native New Yorker, having grown up in the Big Apple himself. With the Knicks in the Finals, he did not want the chance to watch it himself.
During Game 4, the Knicks came back from a record 29-point deficit to win the game by one point, and like any other Knicks fan, Kiyan Anthony was celebrating the win. Potential No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa was there working as a guest courtside reporter and caught up with Anthony, and the BYU star noted that Kiyan had actually been waiting for this exact moment.
“Yo, he been waiting for this his whole life!” noted Dybantsa.
Both Kiyan Anthony and AJ Dybantsa are part of the high school class of 2025 and clashed several times during their career. The two were dapping it up and having fun, though Kiyan was in a much more celebratory mood, while Dybantsa was just enjoying the moment and interviewing fans, including Knicks superfan Spike Lee.
Carmelo Anthony Opens Up About Helping Kiyan Anthony Develop His Game
While Kiyan Anthony was running around Madison Square Garden and celebrating his favorite team’s Game 4 victory, his father, Carmelo Anthony was also busy interacting with other Knicks legends and surprising fans. However, while father and son are celebrating the Knicks’ win, they are also busy preparing for the upcoming college basketball season.
Melo appeared on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Wednesday and opened up about helping his son on the court. He revealed that he could still play and is imparting his extensive knowledge to his son.
“We’re passing the game on verbally. We’re passing the game on, but also as far asallowing my son to just go and just take what I’ve done and built and just instill that into him and what he’s doing today and what he’s trying to get better at. But, to answer your question, Pat, I can still shoot the ball, I can still dribble, I can still get out there and boogie if I really had to, but I don’t have to no more. It’s good being a fan right now.”
Carmelo is a common sight whenever Syracuse plays, even sitting beside his ex, LaLa Anthony, during games to cheer on their son. With Kiyan now entering his sophomore year, the guard is expected to have a bigger role, especially with new head coach Gerry McNamara.
