Gilbert Arenas has always been one to speak his mind. The former NBA star is vocal on his “Gil’s Arena” show on a variety of topics around the game of basketball, and with the NBA Draft looming, it made sense that the panel would discuss matters around the showpiece event.
The topic for the latest discussion appeared to be around picks for various teams and who might go where, with Gilbert dropping an interesting scenario that will have the ears of basketball fans around the world perked up.
Arenas appeared to claim that the business of basketball is above all rest, insinuating that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver might have already made the decision to have Cameron Boozer go as a first round pick to his hometown city of Miami to boost interest and sell tickets.
“Nobody is paying attention to the reality that is out there. The All Star was coming off the bench. Mr 83 hit his booty and can’t walk no more. Now y’all get a lottery pick. What is Miami? A big city. They will get a top 3 pick. Where does Boozer live? Miami. Y’all better stop playing with the business of basketball,” Arenas said during the show.
Cam Boozer Would be a Great Fit for the Miami Heat
Beyond the fact that he’s a Miami boy, Boozer would be a great fit for the Heat. He proved his importance to Duke in the college basketball season, and will feel hard done by that Jon Scheyer’s men couldn’t go all the way in the recently concluded NCAA men’s tournament, but it was clear to one and all that Boozer was the main ma for the team.
AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson are expected to go one and two in the first round of the NBA Draft, but Boozer is a dark horse for being up there in the top two. Even if he’s number 3, it’ll be a huge achievement, and Miami would be thrilled if they can get their man.
