SportsCenter Next Top 100 Player Rankings: Bill Self’s Kansas Star Tyran Stokes Beats Arkansas Rival For Top Spot

Days after reportedly committing to the Kansas Jayhawks ahead of the new college basketball season, Tyran Stokes is already climbing leaderboards as he becomes a part of a prestigious list of 2026 CBB recruits. ESPN SportsCenter Next’s coveted top 100 list of player rankings has Kansas’ latest phenom leading the pack.

Stokes leads the SC Next’s top 100 2026 player rankings with a five-star rating and an overall grade of 95, with the 6’7″ SF from Seattle eking out the likes of SG Jordan Smith of the Arkansas Razorbacks, who currently boasts a five-star rating and an overall grade of 94.

With Bill Self and John Calipari getting ahold of the no. 1 and no. 2 ranked players ahead of the new CBB season, they will most definitely like to rebuild and strengthen their roster while trying to forget the recently concluded March Madness. Bill Self’s Jayhawks bowed out of the second round of the 2026 March Madness after losing to St. John’s Red Storm with a scoreline of 67-65, while the Razorbacks’ 109-88 defeat to the Wildcats in the Sweet 16 stage of the tournament ended their D1 championship run a little more prematurely than what they would’ve hoped for.

The list as compiled by CBB and NBA analyst Paul Biancardi also features SF Caleb Holt of the Arizona Wildcats occupying the third spot, while Duke’s 6’11” recruit PF Cameron Williams and USC’s PF Christian Collins round off the top five list, with all three forwards boasting an impressive five-star rating combined with a grade rating of 94.

Tyran Stokes Praises Kansas’ Culture and Coaching Staff

Having been linked with a plethora of programs this recruiting season, five-star recruit Tyran Stokes announced his commitment to the Kansas Jayhawks, and it turns out he’s enjoying every bit about “being at home.”

Upon being asked about joining the Jayhawks, Stokes revealed how happy he is to be on campus officially as a committed player while also emphasizing how great it is to be a Jayhawk.

“It’s a blessing just to be on campus as, you know, a committed player, committed Jayhawk. Just so you know, I’m here, I’m signed. So, just being at home, this feels great, being with the coaches”, Stokes stated.

He also sang praises of the overall atmosphere of the program while also being excited about playing under the likes of head coach Bill Self.

“Just the culture, the atmosphere that, you know, I get to play in, being under coach Self, coach KT, all those great dudes. He’s coached guys like me before and he’s put guys in my position to strive and do great. So, just being able to, you know, trust in his plans that he has for me,” he further elaborated.

One of the most in-demand recruits, Tyran garnered interest from the many programs, including Arizona, Kentucky, and Oregon, to name a few, before inking a deal with the Kansas-based program.
