Can Miami RedHawks Finish the Season Undefeated? Here’s What We Know

The Miami RedHawks are the only undefeated team remaining in men’s college basketball this season. They have maintained their position after 28 games, keeping a perfect record till the last stretch of the regular season.

The RedHawks played the Eastern Michigan Eagles yesterday at EMU Convocation Center. Once again, the RedHawks dominated with a 21-point lead at the end of the first half and won the game comfortably 74-64.

Miami OH has a strong roster of players who can dominate on both ends. Brant Byers has been leading the team in scoring with 14.6 points per game. Luke Skaljac and Eian Elmer are team leaders in assists and rebounds, respectively.

With a strong team and head coach Travis Steele’s leadership, the biggest question surrounding the RedHawks is, can they finish the season undefeated? The RedHawks have three games left in the regular season.

They will play the Western Michigan Broncos on the road on Friday, the Toledo Rockets at home on Tuesday, and the Ohio Bobcats on the road on March 6. What are their chances of winning all three games?

The RedHawks will likely finish the season undefeated. They will go in as heavy favorites against Western Michigan. The Broncos are 4-11 in the conference and 10-18 overall. The remaining two games will be more competitive.

Toledo boasts a 9-6 conference record and is now on a two-game winning streak. The Ohio Bobcats could also be a potential threat with a similar record. However, the odds are still in favor of the RedHawks.

PrizePicks predicts that the RedHawks, who are averaging over 91 points per game in their last 10 outings, are in a good position to stay undefeated until the end of the regular season.

Miami RedHawks Coach on His Team’s Successful Run

Travis Steele, the head coach for the Miami RedHawks, was recently in conversation on The Hoops HQ. Steele joined the program in 2022. In his first season, the RedHawks won 12 games, followed by 15 and 25 wins over the next two seasons.

This year, they’re already at 28 wins amid an undefeated run. When asked when he realized he had a special team, he said:

“I think it started last year. We won 25 games, set a single-season record in Miami’s history for wins in a season. We lost a heartbreaker to Akron, to my brother (John Groce) in the championship game. We led for, shoot probably 39 minutes and 56 seconds. It was a hard way to lose, but those hard moments kind of reveal who you are. And two days later, I had player meetings.”

Steele said that his players responded well to challenges throughout the season, and as a result, they are the strongest team in the conference.
