John Calipari’s Arkansas Razorbacks are set for a reset for next season. Darius Acuff Jr and Meleek Thomas have both decided to stay in the NBA draft. Darius is projected to land between 5th to 8th pick. Meanwhile, Thomas is expected to be a late first round pick.
The returnees from last season include sophomore Isaiah Sealy and redshirt freshman Paulo Semedo. Sealy played 19 games last season and was a key part of Calipari’s plans this season. However, there has been a big setback.
John Calipari gave an unfortunate update on Isaiah Sealy’s availability.
“Isaiah Sealy hurt his knee playing pick up yesterday. It is going to require surgery. We don’t know the timeline. I am disappointed for him because he has gotten so much better and spent time working on his game,” Calipari posted on his X account.
This is something that would certainly hurt Calipari’s plans. As he shared himself Sealy was showing promise. However, Arkansas do have some firepower for next season. Marquee signing of the off season was the freshman addition Miikka Muurinen. Apart from that Calipari added 3 more freshmen to his squad – Jordan Smith Jr, Abdou Toure and JJ Andrews.
Arkansas also signed 5-star guard Davion Thompson but there are still questions around his reclassification. Transfer portal additions include 6’11 forward Cooper Bowser from Furman and 6’1 guard Jeremiah Wilkinson from Georgia.
