Caleb Wilson NBA Comparison: Which Players Does Former UNC Star Resemble?

Caleb Wilson was a consensus five-star recruit with offers from North Carolina, Kentucky, and Ohio State. Wilson committed to play college basketball with the North Carolina Tar Heels and dropped 24 points in his second game.

Wilson had a great run in the first few months with the Tar Heels last season. He could only play 24 games as he suffered a fracture in his left hand and was ruled out. He led the team in scoring, rebounding, steals, and blocks per game before getting injured.

Overall, Wilson averaged 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. He shot over 57% from the field, showing incredible consistency. Although his season was cut short, Wilson showed great potential for his future.

He is projected to be a top-five pick at the 2026 NBA Draft. Several mock drafts and projections have placed him among the top 3 picks this year. So, what makes Wilson so special, and which players does the former UNC star resemble?

    Caleb Wilson NBA Comparison

Wilson has an elite combination of size, versatility, and defensive playmaking. His numbers, even in a short season, prove that he is built for the big league. At the age of 19, he stands at 6’10 and plays small forward and power forward.

In addition to his game, Wilson has a great personality and a towering presence on the floor. He reminds people of Kevin Garnett. KG is an NBA Champion, 2004 league MVP, 15x All-Star, and one of the greatest power forwards of all time.

As per ESPN’s Fran Fraschilla, Wilson has a chip on his shoulder, “A little like KG.” KG never went to college and was the 5th overall pick at the 1995 NBA Draft. He went on to have an illustrious, Hall of Fame career, spanning over two decades.

Wilson’s game also resembles Pascal Siakam’s. The Pacers’ power forward is an NBA Champion and a 4x All-Star. Wilson shows similar athletic ability to Siakam, featuring a strong transition game and finishing ability.

The former Tar Heels star boasts elite athleticism, often described as a flashy athlete. Another flashy athlete that he gets compared to is Blake Griffin. The former NBA All-Star had one of the greatest rookie years in league history, and years after his retirement, fans still remember his thundering dunks.

Wilson’s game will grow bigger with time; he’ll get stronger, add more tricks to his bag, and attract more comparisons with NBA greats. As of now, for a 19-year-old with one year of college experience, Wilson has already taken major steps in the right direction.
