Aiden Sherrell Transfer Portal: Top 3 Landing Spots for Alabama Star

Aiden Sherrell has decided that he has shot his last basket for the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Alabama forward is exploring his options, and things could happen fast. Sherrell saw a jump of nearly eight points per game between the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons, but wants to see if he can get another jump elsewhere.

Of course, with so many options available, Sherrell could end up anywhere in the country. Geographical location, career prospects and coaching staff all could be reasons for the forward to lean one way or another. Here’s a look at the top three landing spots for Sherrell.

Top 3 Logical Landing Spots for Aiden Sherrell

    #3 – Illinois Fighting Illini

The Illinois Fighting Illini could use another fighter, and the location as a team in the upper Midwest near Aiden Sherell’s hometown of Detroit, Michigan, offers an emotional reason to join the squad. However, in terms of career prospects, it also offers something as well.

The Fighting Illini reached the doorstep of the national championship, which gave every player on the squad almost as big a spotlight as there is. Sherrell could be the recipient of the advantage granted by a similar spotlight next season if he joins the squad.

    #2 – Michigan Wolverines

The Michigan Wolverines won it all, guaranteeing every player at least one blurb in every NBA scout’s journal. The program resides in the same state as Aiden Sherrell’s hometown, which makes nostalgia a potentially huge selling point.

The team’s recent success will make landing on the roster and getting significant playing time a tough feat, however. Of course, it might be a challenge worth taking, as winning a starting role could be enough to put Sherrell in the driver’s seat for an NBA draft slot.

    #1 – Indiana Hoosiers

Of course, one cannot mention potential landing spots without mentioning one potentially already in the works. According to a Thursday report by 247 Sports, the Hoosiers are “firmly in the mix” to add the forward. As such, considering the location in a similar area of the country to his hometown, in addition to seemingly plenty of opportunities for playing time, the Hoosiers are as likely as any team to land him.

Things will need to play out, but the fit makes so much sense that the wheels are in motion enough to make it to the top of the top three.
