Illinois Basketball News: 5-Star Guard Wins Iverson Classic With MVP Performance

The Illinois Fighting Illini crashed out of March Madness with a 71-62 loss to the UConn Huskies in the Final Four in April, and are already in rebuild mode. It’s fair to say their future is in good hands.

The Iverson Classic, a premier basketball showcase celebrating the best high school talent in the country, saw Team Loyalty win a nail-biting contest over Team Honor, 142-138. Guard Quentin Coleman of Team Loyalty emerged as the MVP after registering 31 points, 12 rebounds, and two steals. He shot 11-for-16 from the field, including 4-for-7 from 3-point range.

This stellar performance comes a month after the five-star recruit committed to Illinois. Coleman reportedly committed to the Fighting Illini on the Friday before the team’s Final Four fixture against UConn.

Alongside Coleman, head coach Brad Underwood has also signed top recruits Lucas Morillo, Ethan Brown, Landon Davis, and Zavier Zens ahead of the new CBB season.
