High school prospect Tyran Stokes is confident about himself in 1v1 street style basketball matchup. Stokes, who announced his commitment to Kansas, recently challenged a specialist in that format.
During a live social media video, Stokes openly challenged 1v1 specialist Nasir Core for a $100,000 matchup. Stokes said he’ll bet his own money to challenge Core once he turns 18. Stokes also suggested that Core will first have to beat other players like Mikey Williams before he gets the opportunity to matchup against one of the best high school prospects in the country.
“I will go out there and bust Nas “a**” at 18 for 100K.”
Despite Stokes’ confidence, fans found him “delusional.”
“…I was under the impression he was a humble guy, this kid might be sum trouble 😂😂” one fan wrote.
“man this ni**a delusional. nas would work him all game bro. he don’t have the lateral quickness to guard nas 1v1 ..,” another commented.
“Bro boutta loose all his NIL Bcuz of pride 🤣 knowin he only weigh a hunnit pds 😭” one fan reacted.
“Can’t wait to see this kid eat s**t and ends up a bust honestly. The ego needs to die,” one fan wrote.
“What a dips**t,” one fan wrote. “Can see a bust a mile away. Glad my alma stayed away from this retard.”
“Dodged a bullet here. Good luck, bill self lmao,” one fan added.
It’s unclear what prompted Stokes to make such a challenge but it appears he is not getting the vote of confidence online as most fans favored Nasir Core to take the win in a potential street style matchup.
Kansas Lands Tyran Stokes With “Championship” Goals
The Kansas Jayhawks secured their biggest commitment this offseason after Stokes officially committed. He chose to join Kansas over Kentucky and Oregon. Stokes is already projected by many as a future No. 1 NBA Draft pick (2027) because of his elite athleticism, versatility and everything he does on the court.
With this recruitment, Kansas has not only landed a star player but also inherited a championship mindset.
“I believe so,” Stokes said in an interview. “I don’t really get into all that right now. I’m just going to keep putting the work in to get there—but right now, I’m focused on winning a national championship.”
It remains to be seen if Stokes can live up to his promise and can take Kansas deep in March Madness next season.
