The Ole Miss Rebels have revamped their coaching roster following Lane Kiffin’s departure and replaced the now LSU Tigers head coach with Pete Goulding at the end of the 2025 regular season.
The Rebels fought hard in the College Football Playoff but fell short of making it to the semifinal. Still, they impressed, knowing that they were left stranded by Kiffin. Now, the program is making moves to make the program full and their latest move involves hiring Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal’s former special teams analyst.
According to CBS Sports, Ole Miss is hiring Chris Norris as a special teams analyst. The former Nebraska fullback worked with Arkansas in the last two seasons. He was previously the special teams coordinator at Western Carolina. He worked as a special teams analyst under Mario Cristobal at Oregon.
Ole Miss Brings Familiar Face Into The Fold
Apart from Chris Norris, in another recent move, the Rebels have brought back former safety Marcus Woodson to the team’s defensive staff. Woodson returns to his alma mater after two decades of coaching experience on the defensive staff of SEC teams.
He played for Ole Miss from 1999 to 2002. He started two years as safety for the Rebels.
Woodson will essentially be replacing Patrick Toney, who has joined the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. Toney joined Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding’s coaching staff after his stint with the Arizona Cardinals. Under him, the Cardinals allowed just 202.8 passing yards per game, their best mark in over a decade. Before Arkansas
Woodson already had a new job with Kansas State, being hired as co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach on Collin Klein’s staff before Ole Miss came calling.
Before Arkansas, Woodson worked with Florida State, Auburn, Memphis, Fresno State, Charleston Southern, and Millsaps.
Some of Woodson’s most notable student-athletes who went on to become big names include Asante Samuel Jr., defensive backs Jammie Robinson and Noah Igbinoghene.
