After Fernando Mendoza, Ty Simpson has arguably been the most talked-about quarterback from the 2026 NFL Draft class.
The ex-Alabama star is heading into the 2026 NFL Draft after just one year as the team’s starter. However, he has been part of the Crimson Tide ecosystem for four years, first learning from Nick Saban and then sticking to the process under Kalen DeBoer.
Simpson played with some big names currently in the NFL during his time at Alabama; some of those names include Terrion Arnold, Jalen Milroe, and Bryce Young.
While some analysts question Simpson’s decision to declare for the NFL Draft after just one season as the starter, he told Stephen A. Smith about the advice he took from Bryce Young for the NFL interviews. Simpson said:
”Well, you know the first thing that he said right was be yourself. You know, they’re just as much drift in the person as they are the player, right? So, you know, I don’t want to go in there and sound robotic and, you know, sound like I’ve, you know, prepared for this, you know, a thousand times and the same answer. I want to have some personality, and I want the teams to know the real me, the real Ty Simpson.
“The second thing that he said was, you know, like show your leadership and, you know, show your love for the game. Um, you know, these guys want to know that if you’re going to be a franchise quarterback, they want to know that, you know, when things are hard, when things, you know, aren’t easy, that you’re able to, you know, show your leadership and and show that you love football and you don’t just love what football brings you,” he added.
Ty Simpson Showers Massive Praise On Browns HC Todd Monken
Many analysts project that the Browns might be interested in drafting Ty Simpson in the 2026 NFL Draft, as the franchise probably doesn’t see Shedeur Sanders as its quarterback so much.
Another reason analysts predict Simpson to land in Cleveland is that the ex-Alabama star’s dad, Jason Simpson, and Browns head coach Todd Monken are great friends.
During an interview with Cleveland.com on March 2, Simpson said his dad and coach Monken go way back and have even been texting each other since the ex-Ravens OC landed the Browns gig.
“I think I’d be in great hands,” Simpson said.
Simpson said it would be a dream come true if he got an opportunity to play for the Browns.
