Kalen DeBoer’s Contract Reportedly Includes Specific New Private Plane Usage Clause

The Alabama Crimson Tide have extended the contract of head coach Kalen DeBoer till the 2032-33 season, and it includes some interesting perks. DeBoer is reportedly set to earn $87.5 million over the next seven seasons. The new contract was approved on Wednesday by The University of ‌Alabama’s System Board of Trustees Compensation Committee.

Alabama staff writer Mike Rodak shared more details about the contract on X. Rodak wrote that DeBoer can use a private plane for personal, non-business use for 55 hours annually. It was 30 hours annually before.

Meanwhile, other perks and allowances remain the same. DeBoer will reportedly be paid an annual automobile allowance of $16,800. He will reportedly receive a BDS skybox, parking passes, 15 general admission tickets, and road game tickets. His spouse and dependents’ travel expenses will be covered. He will also get a country club membership and a stipend for a cell phone, according to Rodak.

DeBoer was hired after legendary coach Nick Saban decided to retire from football coaching. In his first season, DeBoer failed to take Alabama to the College Football Playoff. However, he redeemed himself this past season with an 11-4 record and a College Football Playoff appearance. In two seasons so far, the head coach is 20-8.

Kalen DeBoer Shows Excitement Over Extended Contract Update

The Michigan Wolverines were looking for a new head coach this offseason and Kalen DeBoer’s name was reportedly in the mix. However, he is not set to stay in Alabama for the foreseeable future.

The new contract makes DeBoer one of the highest-paid coaches in college football.

“We are excited about the opportunity to continue our time in Tuscaloosa with this contract extension,” DeBoer said in a news release. “This University has become a special place to us, and I look forward to working to ensure that Alabama football remains at the forefront of college football. This program has a long history of success and an unmatched tradition that I was eager to be a part of two years ago, and I cannot wait to keep coaching our guys and bring more championships to Alabama.”

The buyout clause in the new contract is $12 million through January, then reduces to $8 million the following year and finally to $6 million.
