“7 More Free Wins for Tennessee”: Fans React As Alabama Signs Kalen DeBoer To 7-Year, $12.5M Per Year Contract Extension

Kalen DeBoer has had two full seasons as the Alabama head coach after taking the reins from Nick Saban.

DeBoer’s first year at Alabama was disappointing, as the Crimson Tide broke their longstanding streak of 10+ wins in a season and also failed to reach the college football playoffs.

The second season was better for DeBoer and the team, as they secured a place in the 2025 College football playoffs; however, the expectations at Alabama are unlike anywhere else in the nation, as the fanbase demands championships consistently.

Despite some concerns, Alabama has expressed its faith in DeBoer and has signed a seven-year, $12.5M per year contract extension.

”THANK YOU GOD… 7 more free wins for Tennessee,” another fan joked.

“Kalen DeBoer’s Resume since inheriting the #1 greatest Dynasty in College Football
    History
    – Missed 12-team CFP
    – Lost to 2-10 FSU
    – Blown out 28-7 in SECCG
    – Blown out 38-3 in CFP, Excellent choice by Alabama—Extended That Man 💯,” one fan reacted.

“I’m not saying he should be fired because I think he deserves more time to work his plan, but a contract extension before the other one expires is stupid. The world has gone mad,” another fan shared their thoughts.

“The pay is sports is absolutely retarded. It’s nothing but entertainment. There’s no real value to society. Yet you have people building the infrastructure of America not even making $200k a year 🤣 I often wonder when we went wrong,” another fan questioned.

“I don’t think Kalen DeBoer has maximized his opportunity at Alabama to this point & I worry he can’t reach the mountaintop in the New Normal. At the same time, who are you realistically getting definitively better than him in 2026 or 2027? That person doesn’t exist,” another fan said.

“What did I miss these last two years? What has Kalen DeBoer done to deserve all that dough that Alabama gave him?” another fan said.

Kalen DeBoer Expresses Gratitude Over Massive Contract Extension With Alabama

In his statement after Alabama announced the contract extension, DeBoer thanked the Board of Trustees, President (Peter) Mohler, Chancellor Trant, Director of Athletics Greg Byrne, the athletics administration and football staff, along with the University of Alabama.

DeBoer shared that he and his family are excited for the opportunity to continue their time in Tuscaloosa, adding that the University has become a special place for them.

“This program has a long history of success and an unmatched tradition that I was eager to be a part of two years ago, and I cannot wait to keep coaching our guys and bring more championships to Alabama,” DeBoer added.

DeBoer will now earn $12.5M per year through January 31st, 2033, and has a buyout of $10M through January 2027, $8,000,0000 through January 2028, and $6,000,000 through January 2029.
