Indiana Transfer Portal: Josh Pate Makes Feelings Very Clear On Curt Cignetti’s Squad Following Josh Hoover Recruitment

Curt Cignetti’s Indiana Hoosiers will play the Miami Hurricanes for the CFP Championship on Monday. The number 1-ranked Indiana has been the most dominant team throughout the season thanks to their strong roster.

Cignetti seems to have bigger plans for the next season as he’s constantly working on assembling an even better roster while he helps his team prepare for the national title. All indicators are there in their transfer portal decisions.

On a recent episode of Josh Pate’s College Football Show, Pate talked about how impressive Cignetti’s transfer portal decisions have been. Indiana currently has the number two position in the On3 portal rankings.

The Hoosiers have brought in some great players from the portal. Their most notable commits include Josh Hoover, Nick Marsh, Joe Brunner, Turbo Richard, Preston Zachman, Shazz Preston, Joshua Burnham, Chiddi Obiazor, and AJ Harris.

“Look at these players they’ve signed. Josh Hoover is going to be a plug-and-play starter quarterback for them. I’m really high on Nick Marsh. I think probably his potential at Indiana makes him underrated as only the number 32 player in the portal,” Pate said.

In addition to all the players they’ve brought in, Indiana still has time to add more to the list. Since they are in the final of the CFP Championship, they get an extended window on the transfer portal.

Cignetti, since joining the program in 2024, has been relentless in his pursuit to build the best roster for his team. Their presence in the final has only made them a more desirable program for some of the best players in the country.

Curt Cignetti on Benefitting from His Past Experiences

Competing for the national title is the dream for every coach in college football. That’s what they work for throughout the season, that’s the objective they have while recruiting talent, and it’s the end goal for every program.

Cignetti’s success with Indiana is no fluke. He has put in the work that is required for this success. In fact, he has been learning the ropes for years, gathering information and experience, which has led to this moment.

“College football’s changed a lot, obviously…still changing,” Cignetti SAID. “You’ve got to adapt, improvise, be light on your feet if you’re going to survive. And that’s where I think all that recruiting coordinator experience I had in the past, too, as well as coaching, probably benefited me.”

The final outcome of his hard work will be decided on January 19 when the Hoosiers take on the Hurricanes at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
