After taking over as the LSU Tigers’ head coach, Lane Kiffin has been making incredible progress in strengthening the team’s roster. While he’s embarking on a new journey with a major program, Kiffin isn’t the only one in the family who is making big moves.
As per his ex-wife, Layla’s recent Instagram story, their son Knox Kiffin has made his commitment official. Layla posted a picture of Knox holding his id with a sweet caption.
Knox posed for the picture wearing an LSU hoodie.
“It’s official…watch the roads,” she WROTE.
The 17-year-old has been among the best quarterbacks in his class and has had several Division I offers. He is a highly sought-after prospect for the class of 2028.
Lane, on the other hand, has now settled into the new program. He left his head coaching position at Ole Miss after making the Rebels a playoff-bound team. His decision to leave abruptly was heavily criticized in the media.
However, Lane knew that it was time for him to step up and be at the helm of a program with better resources. Since joining LSU, he hasn’t coached them in any games, but has consistently worked toward assembling a strong roster.
Lane has been taking visits from some of the top prospects in the transfer portal and has managed to sign some big names. His most recent signing is former USC QB Husan Longstreet. Longstreet is a former five-star recruit.
He is also the third quarterback that the new Tigers head coach has signed so far in the transfer portal window. Lane’s previous signings are Sam Leavitt and Landen Clark.
How Much Money Did Lane Kiffin Make After Leaving Ole Miss?
Kiffin built the Ole Miss Rebels team from the ground up. He picked players, dedicated time to developing them, chose the right position coaches, and was the main architect of their success this season.
So, when it was time for him to leave Oxford, he made sure that he’d make money off their success. Lane’s LSU contract allowed him to earn bonuses with every win Ole Miss secured in the playoffs.
He made $150k when Ole Miss made it to the playoffs, the bonus went up to $250k after their first round win, and $500k after they beat Georgia. The Rebels ended up losing to Miami in the semifinal, so he cashed out with $500k.
If the Rebels made it to the national championship, Lane would’ve earned $750k and a million dollars if they won the title.
