The national champion and the Heisman Trophy winner, Fernando Mendoza, has nearly engraved his name for the No. 1 pick and is widely projected to land with the Las Vegas Raiders at the 2026 NFL Draft.
On the other hand, while many analysts consider Alabama star Ty Simpson a first-round pick, others believe he will end up sliding to the second round because of his last few performances in the 2025 CFB season and because he had only one season as a starter.
Analyst Dan Orlovsky shared his insights on the two QBs on Thursday, pointing out that while Hoosiers star Mendoza’s performances were quite underwhelming at the start of the season, Simpson, through the first eight games, was significantly more impressive.
“Yeah, f*ck Dan Orlovsky, all the way. Piece of sh*t knows what he’s doing,” one fan reacted.
“@danorlovsky7 doesn’t believe any QB is graded by their first 8 games, does he? If so, he’s a damn idiot lmao. What did he do after those 8 games Dan? A sh*t load better than Simpson. Dan is going to get fired from @espn for dumba** takes like this,” another fan wrote.
“This guy is an idiot. Ty Simpson is not significantly better than Mendoza in any way shape or form and last year it was klubnik, nussmeier, Aller, etc now it isn’t these people are FOS,” another fan shared their thoughts.
”Yes we know Ty Simpson got to play SEC cupcake defenses and D2 level schools. Then when the competition got tough Ty Simpson was truly awful.
Complete opposite story for Fernando Mendoza,” another fan pointed out.”Dan doesn’t even know where the back of the end zone is. his opinion is irrelevant,” another fan highlighted.
”Dude Dan come on, it takes a simple google search to know that Ty Simpson is represented by the same agency Dan is. Ty about to get one rookie of the year vote randomly next year too,” another fan conspired.
Raiders GM Shares How Tom Brady Helps in the Fernando Mendoza Decision
Revealing how Tom Brady has been helping in the decision to select Fernando Mendoza as the No. 1 pick, Raiders GM John Spytek shared during the NFL Combine that they have been chatting about strategy, football, and roster building.
Spytek further highlighted that Brady is the best player ever, and any quarterback who joins the Raiders benefits from having an opportunity to learn from the legend.
“And Tom has got a lot of humility to him, and just because he did it a certain way, he doesn’t have expectations that you do it all that way too. But there are some things that he’s uncompromising on,” John Spytek said.
Spytek added that whoever the quarterback might be, the 7x Super Bowl champ, Brady, would be a great resource for him.
