A.J. Brown’s name is on everyone’s lips right now, as fans and experts alike remain uncertain if the wide receiver will stay with the Philadelphia Eagles or move to another team this offseason. He’s clearly coveted by several teams, among them the New England Patriots.
While he isn’t moving their yet, the Patriots could be an interested party, as Stefon Diggs’ future with the franchise remains uncertain.
On the one hand, he’s eating up $26 million from their salary cap, and he’s getting on in years. On the other hand, he has legal troubles ahead, stemming from felony strangulation and assault charges, that could put his ability to play for the team in question.
Speaking at a press conference this Wednesday, coach Mike Vrabel admitted the team is taking at all avenues to improve the team, including Brown:
“I think that we’ll look at everything that we can possibly look at to add to our roster.”
Nick Sirianni Can’t Guarantee A.J. Brown’s Permanence With Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni, who spoke with the press on Tuesday, also mentioned the wide receive. He had nothing but kind words about him:
“Yeah, my expectation is he wants to be here. And obviously you want good players like that in your building,” Sirianni said during a session with local media in front of the combine.
“As Howie said, it’s hard to get good players in this league. A.J.’s a great player and A.J. is a good teammate and A.J. is a good person. Does he want to be here? Yes. Do I want him to be here? Yes.”
However, when it came time to talk about the player’s future, Sirianni said he could simply not guarantee his future with the franchise:
“Will A.J. be here next season? I think we’re still in a spot, like, I can’t guarantee how anything is going to play out into next season. I’m thinking I’m going to be the coach next season, but you can’t guarantee anything past tomorrow.”
Brown recorded 1,003 receiving yards, with seven touchdowns in 78 receptions for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2025. He was 19th in the league in total receiving yards and 15th in touchdown catches.
