There’s a war brewing in the American state of Texas and it appears fans are seated. An old school barb battle is ongoing between the University of Texas and Texas Tech, with key individuals from both sides fueling the battle, and it’s adding some serious spice to what would normally be a dull off season.
It all started when Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian took a shot at his neighbors, referring to Texas Tech’s favorable schedule that could help them grab a place in the college football playoffs, while Texas have to work harder to achieve the same goal.
“There’s a team in our state that plays in another conference that has a schedule that I would argue if I played with our twos and our threes, we could go undefeated, and they’ll probably make the CFP this year,” Sarkisian said.
Responding to the comment, Texas Tech’s billionaire booster Cody Campbell challenged Sarkisian to face the Red Raiders, only fueling the rivalry between the two sides.
“Schedule us then! We’ve been talking about it for years and we are more than willing!!,” was the response from Campbell, sparking a litany of reactions taking both sides in this ongoing feud.
Fans Pick Sides Between Texas and Texas Tech
Campbell’s comment opened up the battleground to passionate fans, some of whom chose to show the billionaire a mirror while others agreed with what he said.
This war of words will only be solved if the two sides play each other, and fans can probably only hope that will happen in the playoffs in the coming season.
