The Miami Hurricanes just got another major addition to their roster. On Thursday four-star linebacker AJ Randle announced his commitment to Mario Cristobal’s program. The decision stirred discussion on social media because Randle chose Miami over national powers Ohio State and Georgia.
Randle is one of the top linebackers in the 2027 recruiting class. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound defender gives Miami another major recruiting win as the Hurricanes continue to build one of the nation’s top-ranked classes.
While Miami fans celebrated the news, not everyone agreed with Randle’s choice.
Fans React to AJ Randle Picking Miami Over Ohio State and Georgia
Shortly after insider Hayes Fawcett reported the commitment, social media was flooded with reactions from fans across college football.
Some Ohio State supporters questioned the decision to reject the Buckeyes offer.
“A LB choosing not to go to Ohio State is not a smart decision,” one fan wrote.
Others took a shot at Ohio State coach Ryan Day
“Cristobal owns Ryan Day” a fan posted.
“Mario cooking these big programs again,” another wrote.
“Georgia and OSU both whiffed lol,” another wrote.
Miami fans were thrilled to land one of the nation’s top defensive prospects.
“Leeeetttsssss gooooooo. Welcome to the U, AJ!!!!!!!” one wrote.
“Miami really setting up for a #1 class next season!” another user wrote.
Why Did AJ Randle Choose Miami
According to Randle, Miami’s coaching staff played a major role in his commitment.
“I committed probably about a week and a half ago. It was awesome just to be on the phone with Coach Cristobal. He was so amped and excited. I think he’s already ready for me to come be a part of the team now. He’s ready for me to come now, so I’m excited about the opportunity. It’s a great place with great people. The recruiting class we’ve got coming in is pretty good, so I’m excited to be a part of it.” he said.
“Just his energy. He has a winner’s mindset and winning energy. That’s the type of energy I love to be around. I want to continue to be around it and continue to be a winner throughout the rest of my life.” he said about Mario Cristobal.
With Randle now on the team, Miami’s 2027 recruiting class continues to gain momentum. The Hurricanes have climbed into the national top five rankings and are determined to make a depp run in the upcoming College Football season.
