“I Think It’s Going to Be a Great Fit for Lane”: Analyst Weighs In on Impact of Coach O’s Addition to LSU

Lane Kiffin’s LSU brought back their popular former head coach, Coach O, also known as Ed Orgeron.
Coach O will be joining the Tigers as the special assistant and will help Lane Kiffin in recruiting and defense.

Talking about how Coach O’s addition helps Kiffin, analyst Blain Crain highlighted the fact that they had worked together before at USC and predicted their partnership to be “great.”

“So I think it’s going to be a great fit for Lane because, I mean, sooner or later Lane’s—I mean, you’re sky high right now. Everything with Ole Miss, everything’s Lane Kiffin, this, this, this, and that. Now you’ve got Ed O in the background, someone you can lean on, someone who has won a national championship and knows what it takes. And it has to feel good knowing Ed O’s not coming for your job. Right? He’s just happy to be there.”

Jake Crain then added that Coach O is just happy to be at LSU, as he loves football. He further added that Orgeron is going to enjoy talking to the guys, the camaraderie that comes with it.

“I know people will say, David, well, it could be another distraction, and if it goes bad, it’s just going to add to the list. If it goes bad, it’s going to go bad anyway.” Crain added.

Ed Orgeron Married? Exploring Relationship Status and Past

Ed Orgeron, aka Coach O, is not married currently. He divorced his longtime wife Kelly Orgeron, in 2020 after more than two decades of marriage.

Kelly and Orgeron reportedly met in 1996 on a blind date during the Liberty Bowl. The following February, they tied the knot. She was a notable presence during Orgeron’s time in Baton Rouge and the duo also raised three son, including twins Cody and Parker.

Their marriage lasted 23 years and it saw the coach make stops at USC, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and LSU. Their relationship came to an abrupt end in February 2020 shortly after LSU defeated Clemson to win the national title.

As per court documents, it was Orgeron who filed for divorce. Two years later, the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled Kelly was entitled to roughly half of Orgeron’s LSU buyout package, as important contract terms were finalized.

Before marrying Kelly, Orgeron was married to Colleen Orgeron, his first wife. However, there is not much information available about their relationship.
