Deion Sanders has had one of the most iconic lines of Nike signature shoes. His Nike Air Diamond Turf series, which debuted in 1994, remains very popular among sneakerheads. A dual sport athlete, Sanders has made a massive impact on the sneaker culture.
The Colorado Buffaloes head coach recently posted pictures of Nike Air Proto ’92 on his Instagram. He showcased different colorways of the shoes in multiple pictures and the finer details of the design.
Sanders’ shoes have ‘OW’ on the back with a crown sitting on top of ‘O’. Several fans rushed to the comments of the post to express their excitement about the shoes. The NBA’s Isaiah Thomas also left some fire emojis to hype up the shoes.
While the shoes are exciting for the fans, Sanders has more important things to attend to. He battled serious health issues last year, and his team severely underperformed. The Buffaloes recorded their worst season under him last year.
Colorado finished 3-9 overall and 1-8 in the conference. This was a massive decline from their previous season’s performance when they went 9-4 overall and 7-2 in the conference. They also played in the Alamo Bowl, which they lost.
The decline, however, was expected as Colorado lost several great players to the NFL Draft, including Sanders’ son, Shedeur. Despite that, the fans expect more from the $60 million worth coach, and they’re hoping that he’ll be able to turn things around this season.
Coach Prime has made some major changes in preparation for the next season. He has brought in former Sacramento State head coach Brennan Marion to be the team’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Deion Sanders is Ready to Put Colorado Back on Track
Sanders has made significant progress in terms of his health. He is feeling better, taking care of his health, and is ready to put in the work required to bring his team back to relevance.
“I’m energized to do what I know we’re capable of doing, and that’s winning,” he said. “I mean ‘winning winning’, not just winning…not just getting bowl eligible but winning winning.”
“I love the moments, and I love the journey,” he added. “That’s what I’m more in love with than anything…A lot of people just like to get to the end and see how it turned out, and reap the fruit that they worked for…I like the journey, I like to go through the journey.”
If Sanders and the Buffaloes manage to turn things around this year, fans will witness the same excitement in Colorado that they had in 2024.
