Sherrone Moore won a major legal battle last week after his ex-mistress, Paige Shiver, dropped the serious allegations she made against the former Michigan head coach.
Moore was fired as the Wolverines’ head coach in December 2025 over an inappropriate relationship with a staff member despite being married with three kids.
The former Michigan head coach was also arrested and charged with home invasion in the third degree, stalking, and breaking into Shiver’s house and threatening to kill himself in front of her.
Moore has agreed to a plea deal for two new misdemeanours that include malicious use of a telecommunications device in a domestic relationship and a charge of trespass.
Talking about how Moore and his family might now have some relief, Cam Newton weighed in on how this whole situation would now affect his career. He said:
“We live in a day and age where you are guilty until proven innocent. Not innocent until proven guilty. Like the damage have already been done for Sherrone Moore, him and his family. I would say it’s a good look for his wife to still stick with him through it all. Uh but at the same time, the question now comes, does he get another job?”
Newton further highlighted that Moore’s story should be taken as a reminder that a person who is at the top of the world, a head coach at one of the most prestigious Universities in the country, could lose everything over a decision like infidelity.
“I don’t think not in the next year or so because you got to let that stench kind of air out a little bit. Yeah. You know what I’m saying? A GA or whatever. But needless to say, this makes everybody with a platform just be mindful of the decisions that you make. And when you have so much that’s that’s expected of you, it comes with so much responsibility,” he added.
Urban Meyer Shared His Reaction to Sherrone Moore’s Controversy
The entire football world was shaken after the Sherrone Moore controversy, and how he lost his entire career. Big names like Jim Harbaugh and Deion Sanders sympathized with the Moore family and wished them strength in tough times.
Legendary head coach Urban Meyer also shared his thoughts, saying that one of the things he did after hearing the news was to pray for the family.
“I mean, you got three little girls, you got a guy that was on top of the road a week ago. You know, they find a way, they’re up 6-0 on the Buckeyes at home, and then also you wake up and they’re in this situation,” Meyer said.
Meyer said he put the rivalry aside and doesn’t care about football during the tough times, while reaffirming his care for Moore, his wife, and his three daughters.
