“Get Off Your A**”: Deion Sanders Ordered by Colorado Alum to Adopt Major Recruiting Change

Deion Sanders hasn’t had the greatest time in charge of the Colorado Buffaloes lately. In 2025, the major issue surrounded his health, which put into jeopardy any chance he could possibly continue coaching the Buffs.

While he was bravely able to get through the health problems, his Buffs suffered last season after losing some of their top players in the NFL Draft.

Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter were the top guys that Coach Prime simply could not afford to lose, but their progression to the NFL meant there was a void at key positions, which quite frankly, nobody was really able to fill.

And the struggles last season have now started raising some key questions about Sanders himself, with one former Colorado star claiming that Prime needs to do more from a recruiting standpoint to ensure that top high school athletes commit to Colorado over any other program.

“We know where you’re at, but we can’t find you”, Matt McCheney said.

“Get off your a** and go recruit. Coach Prime handled the top echelon high school kids identify 20 if them and go get 10 of them with your personality and swagger. And then let your coaches and your personnel department chop up the transfer portal.”

“The power that Coach Prime would have if he would just leave the castle and go recruit and stop being scared of the world with 15 security guards. I would guarantee it would help,” he continued.

Colorado Desperately Need to Make the Most of the NIL Era

In the NIL era, money talks, and unfortunately for Colorado, the program feels a bit bootstrapped to challenge the likes of Ohio State, LSU and Texas in the transfer portal.

With limited budgets, it becomes even more important to go out and get the best high school players to help your team stand a chance.
