The No. 1 UConn Huskies women’s basketball are scheduled to face the No. 4 North Carolina Tar Heels women’s basketball team in the Sweet Sixteen encounter of the NCAA Tournament.
The Huskies reached here after defeating the UTSA Roadrunners and the Syracuse Orange in the first and second round of the NCAA Tournament, respectively. On the other hand, UNC reached the Sweet Sixteen after taking out Western Illinois in the first round and Maryland in the second round.
Ahead of the big game, let’s take a look at the starting lineup, injury report and prediction of this highly anticipated women’s basketball encounter.
UConn vs. UNC Women’s Basketball Injury Report
UConn Huskies Injury Report
Forward Ice Brady is out for the season because of season-ending knee surgery. Brady has been out since the opening week of the season after she suffered inflammation in her right knee after playing first two games.
Guard Morgan Cheli is also out as she recovers from ankle surgery. She underwent surgery in her freshman season. There were hopes that she would return for the conference tournament, but the recovery has taken longer than expected.
North Carolina Tar Heels Injury Report
Guard Reniya Kelly is out with an undisclosed injury. She has already missed multiple tournament games and there is no clear timetable for her to return yet. Kelly is a key backcourt player and a former All-ACC performer. For UNC, she is important for ball-handling, playmaking, and perimeter defense. Her absence forces more responsibility on guards like Lanie Grant and Indya Nivar.
