UConn’s Azzi Fudd Calls Out “Annoying” Media During Candid Answer to a Reporter

UConn Huskies guard Azzi Fudd gave a candid answer to a reporter during a recent interview after she was asked about the media attention heading into the national postseason.

On Sunday, March 15, Fudd was featured in a recent media availability on The UConn Daily following this year’s Selection Sunday, where the NCAA selection committee finalized the official bracket for the 2026 March Madness.

In a video then posted by WNBA Got Game on Instagram, Fudd sarcastically called the media “annoying” after she was asked whether the media attention and exposure affect her game.

Whatever the case may be, it seems as though it has not affected the veteran as she has led UConn to an undefeated overall record of 34-0 (20-0 Big East) this season.

“ If anything, no offense. The media’s just like annoying,” Fudd said (0:06).

“Azzi Fudd doesn’t try to focus on the media’s opinions and tries to stay locked in during the season 🔒,” @wnbagotgame on Instagram captioned with a padlock emoji.

Fudd is in her fifth and final year of collegiate hoops with coach Geno Auriemma‘s Connecticut-based program. The Arlington, Virginia, native is projected to be one of the top picks in this year’s WNBA Draft. Last year, she extended her college tenure. For now, her focus remains on bringing the Huskies back to the NCAA mountaintop.

Azzi Fudd Has Been Taking Time Away From Social Media To Prepare For The 2026 NCAA Tournament

In the aforementioned media availability, where Azzi Fudd candidly called out the media in a playful manner, she expounded on how taking time away from social media has helped her focus on this year’s national tournament preparations.

Fudd detailed that she has detoxed from social media all season, and has found peace by being locked in the moment presently with her teammates.

“I’ve done it this year. I haven’t really been on Instagram. I feel like I can go on TikTok, and my TikTok is literally anything but basketball. I get an occasional edit of Sarah or KK. But, other than that, I’ve tried my best to stay off of that. I was hoping so, like I wouldn’t have to see just all the different noise from media and like what people are saying, whether it’s about the team, about me, about the draft, like it’s so easy to get distracted,” Fudd explained (5:34).

“But, I found that it’s just so peaceful, like it really helps you stay present and focused on here; like what you’re doing on your free time is great, but it takes away from me spending more time with my teammates. So, I feel like that’s been a great adjustment,” she concluded.
