Azzi Fudd is now decorated enough to be considered one of the greatest talents in collegiate basketball. The UConn Huskies guard was named the 2025-26 Big East Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Wednesday by the Conference’s Academic Awards Selection Committee. As a result of this, Fudd will receive a $2,000 stipend, which can be applied to graduate or professional studies.
We must understand the credentials beyond the court that helped Fudd bag this award. Azzi Fudd is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business administration, all while maintaining a 3.57 GPA. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from UConn and has been named to the Director of Athletics’ Honor Roll for eight consecutive semesters.
Since this news broke out, fans are more in awe of the Huskies prodigial star. Reactions have started pouring in on X, many congratulating and hyping Fudd for winning this award. One fan in awe wrote,

Azzu Fudd became the ninth UConn player to receive this honor, joining the likes of Leigh Curl (1984-85), Wendy Davis (1991-92), Rebecca Lobo (1993-95), Jennifer Rizzotti (1995-96), Maya Moore (2009-11), and Paige Bueckers (2023-24).
Azzi Fudd Has Been on Par Both on and off the Court
Azzi Fudd is currently playing the best season of her college career. She is averaging 17.9 points, three assists, and 2.5 steals, recording career highs and helping the Huskies to their first undefeated regular season since 2018. Fudd is showing historic efficiency, shooting 45.1 per cent from the deep and 95% at the free-throw line. She is second in the country in made 3-pointers (scoring 96) and ninth in three-point percentage.
Besides her offensive stats, ranks fourth nationally in defensive win shares and 10th in defensive rating. She has made it to the midseason watchlists for the Naismith Trophy and Wooden Award and is in the top 10 for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award for the nation’s best shooting guard.
