It was a wild last few weeks for Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks, as they were demoted from the No. 3 team to the No. 4 team in college basketball after losing to Texas in the SEC Tournament. While this means that they are still a No. 1 seed coming into March Madness, this may have lit a fire into the Gamecocks and that means their next opponents, No. 9 USC Trojans, better watch out.
The Trojans lost their biggest star to injury this season, but its players have certainly stepped up and propelled the team to the tournament. However, would that be enough to beat South Carolina in this battle between two teams that call themselves USC?

Freshman guard Jazzy Davidson stepped up for USC against Clemson, leading the team in points, assists and rebounds for 31 points, six rebounds and five assists with three steals and one block. Meanwhile, Kara Dunn added 22 points and four rebounds for the Trojans. However, South Carolina is no Clemson and they have to step up even more.
As for the Gamecocks, it is the usual suspects and each one of their starters could essentially lead any other team and be a star there. Four of the five starters each had double figures in the first round, which shows how balanced this team is, with a very scary backcourt led by floor general Raven Johnson, who ironically was the only player not in double figures.
