Paige Bueckers Pinpoints Sarah Strong’s 1 “Weakness” That Geno Auriemma Has Also Complained About

Many teams have unsuccessfully tried to figure out how to beat Geno Auriemma’s UConn this season. The Huskies have been a level apart from all their opponents, especially Saraha Strong. She has been almost unplayable in multiple games.

However, Paige Bueckers shared Sarah’s one weakness, which she also quoted as her superpower. In an article, ESPN’s Alexa Philippou combined some of the things Auriemma and UConn teammates had said about Sarah.

    Her former teammate Bueckers said:

“Her biggest flaw is her unselfishness, and I think that’s also her superpower, too.”

In the same interview, Paige shared how she helped Sarah get comfortable in her freshman year.

“Usually, as a freshman, you come in, you want to gain everybody’s respect,” Bueckers added. “You don’t want to step on toes … I wanted her to think that it was her team, to where she felt confident enough to take over a game and didn’t have to be, like, defer to Paige, defer to Azzi.”

Geno Auriemma and UConn are two games away from history. They are gearing up for a mouth-watering clash with Dawn Staley’s South Carolina in the Final Four. If the Huskies win their next two games, they will win their seventh undefeated national championship and 13th overall.

After Rebecca Lobo, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, Tina Charles, Breanna Stewart, and others, Sarah Strong, Azzi Fudd, and company have the chance to make history again.

Geno Auriemma makes feelings clear about Sarah Strong’s role on the UConn Huskies team

After a successful freshman season, Sarah Strong only got better in her sophomore year. Despite Paige Bueckers leaving for the WNBA, the UConn Huskies transitioned into the next season seamlessly. Some would argue that this year’s team is even better than last year’s simply because of their undefeated run.

Azzi Fudd and Sarah took up the mantle from Bueckers and have led the team together this season. However, more than Fudd, fans have been surprised by Sarah’s emergence. Geno Auriemma even called Sarah the “heart and soul” of the UConn Huskies.

Geno Auriemma had also complained about Sarah Strong’s selflessness. He urged Sarah to take more shots and get the ball early. He wants her to take charge and lead games. For the most part, Sarah has been able to grow into games and do that. But can she and UConn overcome Dawn Staley’s South Carolina challenge?
