Is Paige Bueckers at Azzi Fudd’s Senior Day? Looking at WNBA Star’s Attendance for UConn GF

UConn women’s basketball honored five players, including Azzi Fudd, during Sunday’s Senior Day celebration. Fudd joined the UConn Huskies in 2021 and won the NCAA trophy with the team in 2025.

The Huskies are ranked number one in the Big East, and they have remained unbeaten after 29 games this season. They are 18-0 in the conference with a comfortable margin ahead of Villanova, 14-4.

Alongside Fudd, UConn also honored senior Serah Williams, redshirt senior Caroline Ducharme, redshirt junior Ice Brady and redshirt sophomore Ayanna Patterson.

Fudd took the team forward after Paige Bueckers went to the WNBA. The game against the Providence Friars was Fudd’s last regular-season game at Gampel Pavilion for the UConn Huskies. The Huskies registered a blowout 81-38 win.

In a moment of celebration for Fudd and her teammates, fans wondered if Paige Bueckers would show up at Gampel Pavilion to support her girlfriend. However, the Dallas Wings star was not spotted at the event.

Head coach Geno Auriemma described Fudd and her teammates as a “hodgepodge kind of group.” Different players with different journeys, but they all came together and have led the Huskies to another brilliant season.

“Obviously, Serah Williams is new to the scene … (But the others) they’ve all had one similarity, and that is they’ve all had to endure a really difficult journey here. From all the injuries and all the wasted time on the bench, not having an opportunity to play for so long. You know, that’s not the greatest college experience,” he said.

Fudd also reflected on her journey and stated that Ducharme was one of the main reasons why she decided to join UConn in 2021.

Azzi Fudd on Her UConn Journey

Fudd said that this has been her most fun year at UConn. She has grown a lot, learned a lot, and has become a better player in the process. She has Ducharme to thank for it because she was the reason why she joined UConn.

“She was part of the reason why I came here in the first place,” she said. “So to have been able to go through these five years with her by my side, through the ups and downs, the highs, the lows, everything we’ve been through, it’s been so special. … To end it together, it’s incredible.”

She said that the journey, the memories associated with the school, and her friendship with Ducharme would be some of the reasons why she’d cry during her Senior Day ceremony.
