‘Now Y’all Understand Why Dawn Staley LOVED Her’: Fans React As Raven Johnson Owns the Floor During Valkyries Showdown

The Indiana Fever’s early season woes continued as they fell to a 4-3 record following their 90-88 loss to the Golden State Valkyries. However, rookie Raven Johnson was the one who carried the Fever in that close loss, dropping 16 points, four rebounds, two assists and one block against the Valkyries in the best performance of her career so far.

This performance had many fans talking, with many reminding others that this was usually how she played under Dawn Staley over at South Carolina.

“Now y’all understand why Dawn Stalley LOVED her so much‼️” one fan pointed out.

“raven was playing great and then steph took her out because steph is a brilliant coach who hates to feed the hot hand. she loves to sub out players on a heater because she doesn’t want to be predictable,” said another person.

“way to go Raven!!! she was the only player who didn’t act like they wanted juju to be their teammate next season,” another commenter noted.

“Another Dawn protege, Raven Johnson, playing very well in the WNBA. She was ready day one,” a fan stated.

“She was definitely a bright light in a hostile game. She has nothing to lose and defenders don’t expect her to score. She has a window of time to use that to her advantage before they wake up guard her hard,” another person added.

“I’ve said for years, when the dogfight starts I’ll take Raven over anyone. All she’s ever done is what the team needs and asks of her to do. Stat watchers may not see that she destroys passing lanes, elite at POA, reads defenses, runs with pace AND half court. Raven is a winner,” one fan commented.

Raven Johnson Comments On Her Career Game vs. Golden State

As for Ravem Johnson herself, the former South Carolina point guard stated that she is continuing to grow and learning from her teammates over at Indiana.

“Yeah, I just take it day by day,” Raven Johnson said. “I think it starts in practice — leaning on my vets, learning new concepts, and continuing to grow.”
