Kaleena Smith could be leaning toward a move out of Kim Mulkey’s LSU Tigers. The 5-star point guard from California will take an official visit to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on April 24, according to 247 Sports.
Notre Dame could prove to be an exciting destination for Smith, as the program benefits ball-dominant point guards and plays a fast-paced, aggressive defense. Moreover, playing alongside a superstar guard like Hannah Hidalgo in the Fighting Irish backcourt could be enticing for Smith. Hidalgo earned ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year this past season.
Meanwhile, Mulkey’s LSU roster is loaded with elite guards and transfers; therefore, Smith’s fit in Baton Rouge could be questioned.
Kim Mulkey Awaiting Commitment Decision From Caroline Bradley
Caroline Bradley has many women’s college basketball programs excited, as the top-ranked prospect in Louisiana nears the end of her recruitment. She has narrowed her interest to 10 schools, and a decision could come at any time, with an expected announcement on Monday at 7 pm CT.
Kim Mulkey’s Tigers are among the finalists, alongside the UCLA Bruins, Duke Blue Devils, Alabama Crimson Tide, South Carolina Gamecocks, Vanderbilt Commodores, Texas A&M Aggies, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Oklahoma Sooners.
Bradley’s scouting report from 247Sports is as follows:
“Bradley has the size on the interior that makes it difficult for high school prospects to keep her off the glass on either end of the court. She is comfortable playing through contact. In due time, look for her to become increasingly aware of where potential double teams are coming from, allowing her to make passes to open shooters in real time. For a young prospect with her size, Bradley moves well from side to side while maintaining a consistent pace of play.”
According to reports, LSU is the likely destination as Bradley has visited the program multiple times, suggesting a strong interest. Meanwhile, Mulkey’s LSU has also responded strongly, making multiple in-person trips to visit Bradley.
