Angel Reese was traded to the Atlanta Dream after the Chicago Sky decided to part ways with their All-Star forward. The news broke on Monday.
Reese wasted no time confirming the news herself on Instagram.
“An Angel’s DREAM 🅰️TL WHAT UP?!,” she wrote in the caption.
Alongside, Reese posted a photo of herself in the Dream’s jersey.
South Carolina Gamecocks starting point guard Raven Johnson, who lost to UCLA in the National Championship game on Sunday, approved of the trade.
“Atl Barbie 🔥,” Johnson wrote.

The Gamecocks star is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, and was a legend at Westlake High School before heading to South Carolina.
Moving to Atlanta is a homecoming of sorts to the South for the former LSU star Angel Reese. She led the Tigers to their first-ever national championship in 2023.
Reese also fully embraced the culture and earned the “Bayou Barbie” nickname.
The WNBA star’s time in Chicago was a rollercoaster. Reese was a walking double-double, but the Sky as a team could not find their footing. In 2025, the team finished with a dismal 10-34 record, which was tied for the worst in the league.
The relationship between Reese and the front office also hit a public low point late in the 2025 season.
Reese gave an interview to the Chicago Tribune on Sept. 3, where she was brutally honest about the roster.
“I’m not settling for the same s*** we did this year,” Reese said. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me. … I think the priority is being able to convince [free agents] that this is an organization that is going in the right direction.”
The Sky organization deemed her comments “detrimental to the team.” On Sept. 7, she was suspended for the first half of a game against the Las Vegas Aces and then sat out the final three games of the season.
Looking back, Angel Reese was drafted into the WNBA on April 15, 2024. She was selected by the Chicago Sky as the seventh overall pick in the first round.
Raven Johnson’s Farewell Message to Gamecocks After Losing Championship Title to UCLA Bruins
Raven Johnson shared a heartfelt farewell message on X on Monday after the South Carolina Gamecocks lost 79-51 to the UCLA Bruins in the NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship game.
She addressed to her “friends, family, and fans” that served as a final bow for her five-year tenure in Columbia.
“Thank you for riding with me through every high and every challenge of my college career,” Johnson wrote. “It may not have ended the way I dreamed, but I’m beyond grateful for the journey, the lessons, and the growth that came with it. You all showed me love, support, and belief even on the toughest days–and that’s something I’ll carry with me forever.”
She ended the post, writing, “This chapter may be closing, but the story is not over.”
Angel Reese quote tweeted the post and wrote:
“So proud of you my booskie!! You have handled it all with so much grace. Can’t wait to see what you do in the league! See you soon! 🥹🫶🏽”
Johnson finished her career with two national championships. She is also the only player to reach five Final Fours.
For her, the next big chapter is the WNBA Draft, which will take place on April 13, where Johnson will start her pro career.
