Lauren Hurst Transfer Portal: Top 5 Teams That Should Target the Lady Vols Freshman

Another player is leaving Tennessee after all that drama surrounding Kim Caldwell and her seniors, as freshman Lauren Hurst is the latest Vol reportedly entering the transfer portal. She joins Deniya Prawl, Alyssa Latham and Kaniya Boyd in leaving Tennessee, and she is expected to be gone once it opens from April 6-20.

As a freshman, Hurst played a lot this season, averaging 2.3 points, 1.6 rebounds and 10 minutes per game. However, she has a lot of upside in development as she led the team in 3-point percentage during her freshman year. The question now is, which team could she go to?

Which School Should Pick Up Lauren Hurst During the Transfer Portal?

    South Carolina Gamecocks

The Gamecocks may be one of the top teams in college women’s basketball, but they are expected to lose a lot of players to eligibility this year, including a lot of their key guards. This could be a good pick for Dawn Staley, who could help develop Lauren Hurst into a premiere shooting guard under her guidance, or as a key player off the bench who could drain threes in times of need.

    UConn Huskies

Another team that is expected to lose a lot of seniors after this season, UConn is undoubtedly the No. 1 team in college women’s basketball right now and Geno Auriemma is just a legendary coach. With the team losing the likes of Azzi Fudd next season, Auriemma could get a guard from the transfer portal to shore up his roster.

    Duke Blue Devils

Duke is a blue blood team for a reason, and its women’s basketball program is on the rise. The team has vastly improved through the years and they could certainly improve their outside shooting with Lauren Hurst on the roster.

    Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Hannah Hidalgo is not expected to go anywhere and is expected to still be the woman at Notre Dame, but Hurst could provide a good backup for her and start shooting from the outside off the bench.

    Ohio State Buckeyes

After getting eliminated by Notre Dame, Ohio State is doing a lot of soul searching right now. The team was outplayed by Hannah Hidalgo, and it seems that the team might need a few tweaks, and this is where Lauren Hurst could come in and help out in the rotation as an outside threat.
