When it comes to extravagant gameday outfits, Kim Mulkey takes the cake and runs with it. While her arch rival, Dawn Staley, wears beads and bracelets made for her by a child with cancer, Mulkey often surprises people with outfits ranging from a basketball net to flowery or feathery sleeves.
During Thursday’s game against Tennessee, she went with some Tiger patterned white pants with a Tiger sweater. Her outfit also had some tassels.
The X post by College Sports Only also joked that Mulkey recreated the “Key & Peele” Obama meme that featured a sketch where Jordan Peele, who played President Barack Obama, gave White people he met handshakes while he dapped up African Americans. In this case, Mulkey seems to give women handshakes while the guys got dapped up.
Kim Mulkey outfit decisions in the past have made a lot of people laugh, including the biggest fashionistas among her players and former players, such as Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese. Despite this, the legendary coach has shown that she can deliver amid the flair and the pomp, helping send the Tigers to the national championship game, the Final Four and even win the national title.
Her outfits often become the talking point, from her tiger print outfits to jackets with basketball hoop print design to Christmas sweaters to outright wearing a basketball net.
Kim Mulkey Gets Historic Feat After Win vs. Tennessee Volunteers
While the LSU Tigers struggled a lot with the disruptive Tennessee Vols defense in the first half, the team ultimately escaped with a convincing 89-73 win at home during senior night. The win also marked a historic achievement for Mulkey in the SEC.
After that win, the Tigers improve to 25-4 overall and 11-4 in SEC play. This now makes Kim Mulkey the first SEC head coach to win 25+ games in each of their first five seasons with a team. This is now her fifth season with the Tigers and now has an overall record of 141-24, with Mulkey’s teams playing in March Madness every single time.
