We are at the business end of college basketball season, and after LSU and South Carolina’s latest clash, things have spiced up. Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks emerged victorious against Kim Mulkey’s LSU. However, LSU bounced back again in its very next high-octane game.
Seventh-ranked LSU defeated 17th-ranked Ole Miss 78-70. It was a rather evenly matched contest, with Ole Miss coming close to winning. LSU made a huge comeback in the fourth quarter. One major incident, apart from LSU’s impressive comeback, garnered fans’ attention.
The center of that incident was LSU star Grace Knox. She aggressively blocked an Ole Miss player’s lay-up. However, it wasn’t just that. Her reaction seemed overly aggressive as well, for which she got a technical foul. Fans online were furious with how Knox conducted herself.
“That’s what Kim [Mulkey] out here teaching,” one fan blamed the LSU head coach.
“Exactly!! She went too far, especially on national TV. AFTER she knows she fouled hard,” one fan said.
“Apparently I need to clarify. The foul was fine. Her reaction after and getting T’d up is fine. My issue is how after the fact, when she’s supposed to be huddling with the team, she’s engaging with the crowd. When she goes to the bench instead of getting her head right, she’s STILL yappin at the crowd. A couple plays before this one, she gets a nice block and claps while the ball is still in play. Then Ole Miss got the ball and scored. Intensity is GOOD, being a hothead isn’t,” one fan stated.
“Not to mention, this wasn’t even a clean block. She hacked the mess out of her,” another fan claimed.
“Yea all that after the fact was so unnecessary and to still be saying idgaf on the sideline is just way too much,” another stated.
“She’s learning that attitude from her coach. That’s the problem,” another fan called out Kim Mulkey.
