USC Trojans freshman Jazzy Davidson has fellow teammate JuJu Watkins to credit following her clutch pair of 3-pointers in the OT win against the Clemson Tigers. Following a controversial overturned decision that discarded Mia Moore’s buzzer beater to end the game in regulation, Davidson led the Trojans’ effort in overtime.
The Trojans, who outscored Clemson 10-6 in overtime for a 71-67 victory, were helped by Davidson’s back-to-back 3-pointers. A couple of free throws from the Trojans also made the difference in the game.
During her conversation with Autumn Johnson, Davidson, who finished with 31 points in the game, mentioned how the locker room atmosphere is helping her grow in college basketball. She specifically mentioned Watkins, who has been recovering from a right ACL tear, for her precious on and off-court advice.
“I think on the court, I would say just pace, not letting the defense speed me up, getting what I want offensively and just seeing the court, seeing the second line of defense,” Davidson said. “I would say off the court, just enjoying the moment. The season goes by so fast and she reminds me of that when I’m kind of in my head about things, so just staying present, staying in the moment.”
The USC could have been a contender if Watkins were part of the roster. However, she is already ruled out of the 2025-26 season, as she continues to nurse her torn ACL, which she suffered in the third round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The expectation is that she’ll target a comeback in the 2026-27 season.
Jazzy Davidson Credits Teammates After Incredible NCAA Tournament Debut
Jazzy Davidson showed the women’s college basketball what she’s capable of as she played a big hand in USC reaching the next round of the NCAA Tournament.
Including the two clutch 3-pointers in overtime, Davidson finished with 31 points on 13-of-28 shooting from the field. Her efforts were not limited to shooting as she also recorded three steals and a block in the first-round win over Clemson.
After the win, Davidson showed humility by crediting her teammates for creating good looks for her.
“It felt great, my teammates and coaches put me in a great position with those shots, they’re called great play calls, and my teammates executed perfectly, and we got the shot, it was great,” said Davidson.
Davidson will again be looked up to as USC faces a stern test in No. 1 South Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
