Caitlin Clark just led Team USA to a dominant 5-0 win in Puerto Rico. Playing in the FIBA World Cup qualifying tournament, Clark averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 assists to help Team USA win all of their games. This is a significant return for Clark, whose second WNBA season was somewhat derailed by a series of injuries.
Iowa women’s basketball coach Jan Jensen took notice of the former Hawkeye’s dominant performance and didn’t hesitate to give Clark her flowers. Sharing a post from USA Basketball of Clark winning the MVP of the FIBA World Cup qualifying tournament, Jensen wrote on her Instagram story,
“In case you missed this news… CC was MVP of the FIBA tourney…just doing Caitlin Things! 😏 Congrats @caitlinclark22.”

In her next story, she also praised Megan Gustafson, alongside Caitlin Clark, for making the FIBA All-Star team. Gustafson averaged 14.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in the tournament to help Spain finish 3-2 in their run at San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Team USA had already qualified for the upcoming World Cup in Germany, which is set for September 4 to 13. However, the organization still opted to play in the qualifiers to get their younger players some international tournament experience and to try out lineups and rotations. In this tournament, Team USA posted dominant wins over Senegal, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, and Puerto Rico.
Aaliyah Boston Sends Emphatic Message to Teammate Caitlin Clark After MVP honors
Caitlin Clark bested the likes of Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers to emerge as the MVP of the FIBA World Cup qualifying tournament. She combined for 58 points and 32 assists through the tourney, which both remain team highs.
After her stint with Team USA, Clark posted on Instagram with the caption, “Fun being out there. Always an honor” to represent USA Basketball on the international stage. One of them, who was more than excited following Clark winning her MVP honors was Aliyah Boston.
In the comments following Clark’s MVP win, Boston wrote, “The besttttt.” This shows how well the Fever stars have developed chemistry with each other through their two seasons together in the league. A healthy Clark and Boston heading into the next season of the WNBA could be a serious problem for the opponents and could possibly even lead to Indiana as one of the top playoff contenders.
