After three seasons warming the bench for Geno Auriemma’s UConn Huskies, Ice Brady has decided to move. The UConn forward has announced her decision to join the transfer portal, ostensibly in the lookout for more starting time in her senior year, to improve her chances at next year’s WNBA Draft.
Here are some options that could fit her career path so far.
5 Potential Landing Spots for Ice Brady
#5 TCU Horned Frogs
The Horned Frogs have emerged as serious NCAA Tournament contenders. This season, they reached the Elite Eight, only to fall to the eventual runners-up of the tournament, South Carolina. They have also become the dominant force of the Big 12 and have shown a tendency to get top talent through the portal.
Players like Sedona Prince, Hailey Van Lith, and Haley Cavinder have joined them through the portal, even if the latter turned back on her decision. Brady would add to this prestigious list of recruits.
#4 USC Trojans
The 2025-26 season was a disappointment for the Trojans when compared to the standards they had set for themselves during the 2020s. The good news is they have the top recruiting class of 2026. Nonetheless, they are also losing starting forward Rayah Marshall. Ice Brady could help them recover their prior heights and bridge the years between Marshall’s departure and their recruits and freshmen.
#3 California Golden Bears
Cal is losing senior forward Marta Suarez this offseason, so they’re expected to look for an experienced forward to bridge the gap. They come from a middle-of-the-road season that saw them finish 10th in the ACC standings.
They would want to repeat their 2025 achievement of making it to the NCAA Tournament. Brady would be an improvement for them and a chance for the player to be a consistent starter in her final season in college.
#2 UCLA Bruins
The UCLA Bruins made it this season, winning the women’s college basketball national title. However, now they’re about to become victims of their own success. They are expected to lose around six players to the WNBA Draft. Including forward Angela Dugalic.
It wouldn’t be too far-fetched to see the Bruins turn Ice Brady from a reliable Big East bench player into bonafied Big Ten starter. The one problem? This path doesn’t ensure Brady’s starting time for the upcoming season. The risk is hers to take.
#1 San Diego State Aztecs
An interesting option, since it’s the only non-Power Five school on the list. It’s also Brady’s hometown school, and the current Mountain West regular-season champions. It wouldn’t take much to turn the Aztecs into an NCAA Tournament team, while ensuring Brady has ample play time and she’s near her home. This is the safe, but arguably better option for her career.
