‘I Know How Hard That Must Be’: Aaliyah Boston Trolls Candace Parker After Dawn Staley’s Latest Recruiting Dub

Oliviyah Edwards’ commitment to Dawn Staley’s South Carolina is bad news for former WNBA star Candace Parker, who will now have to hear all about it constantly from fellow podcast host and former South Carolina player Aliyah Boston.

In the past weeks, Parker had expected to see the five-star recruit going to other schools, with her alma mater Tennessee included in the candidates. So when Staley secured the commitment for the Gamecocks this month, it became a point of pride for Boston.

In a recent episode of “Post Moves with Candace Parker & Aliyah Boston”, the Indiana Fever star had this to say to Parker:

“I wasn’t sure if you remembered the thoughts you had on ‘Big O Baby’, did you remember that?… Candace, what was that, sweetheart? Where’d she go? U-S-C, go Cocks. Cocks up, baby. Look at her, she’s so happy, man. I mean, the good news is she’s still in the SEC, so you will see her dominate your Lady Vols. So I know how hard that must be for you as you prep for this,”

Candace Parker went on to congratulate Oliviyah Edwards for her decision, while admitting it was making her life miserable. She also said that she understands players going with the school or team they think is the best fit for them, even if they have previously made any sort of commitment to any other program. She also recognized that the South Carolina Gamecocks were looking like a dangerous unit for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Who is Oliviyah Edwards? Dawn Staley’s latest addition to South Carolina

Oliviyah Edwards is a definite coup by Dawn Staley on the recruitment side of things. The five-star recruit is considered the best power forward and the fifth-best overall player in the nation for the class of 2026. She’s also the top player out of the state of Washington, according to 247Sports.

The 6-foot-3-inch native of Tacoma, Washington, who played high school basketball at Elite Sports Academy, was being actively recruited by USC, Tennessee, and LSU, too. The fact that the Volunteers, Candace Parker’s former school, missed out on such a prospect makes the Aliyah Boston celebrations all the harder for her.
