Notre Dame once had one of the most dynamic backcourt duos in women’s college basketball, with Olivia Miles and Hannah Hidalgo torching opponents together. However, that ended when Miles entered the transfer portal and went to TCU.
At the time, fans speculated whether the two players had fallen out. This all culminated during a WNBA preseason game, with the two having what many fans described as an awkward exchange. According to For The Win, security got involved and seemingly asked the pair to move away from where they were situated.
What they discussed did not make it to the public, but many noted that it happened in May, right after Miles left for TCU.
Both guards are now playing in March Madness, and they might meet in the Final Four, given the bracket.
Hannah Hidalgo Clarified That She Had No Beef With Olivia Miles
During the last few days of the 2024-25 season, the Irish were on a losing streak, with Hidalgo and Miles not linking up as well as they had been all year. This soon led to their March Madness exit, with many expecting Miles to leave for the WNBA draft. However, she shocked many when she decided to stay in college basketball and enter the transfer portal. She transferred to TCU, the team that beat Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament that year.
That sparked speculation, and many wondered if Hidalgo and Miles had bad blood. However, when Hidalgo went on Instagram live last year, she clarified that she was not beefing with Olivia Miles.
“Yeah, we’re fine,” she answered. “We are perfectly fine, y’all. There is no beef, there is literally no beef. Y’all are creating it out of thin air.”
Olivia Miles is expected to enter the WNBA draft after this season, while Hannah Hidalgo, who is still a junior, is expected to stay at Notre Dame.
