Hannah Hidalgo has been performing at a high level this season. She has produced career-best numbers in the 16 games played so far, averaging 25.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.5 assists. Since Olivia Miles’ transfer from Notre Dame to TCU, the Irish team has looked bleak.
Notre Dame is sixth in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They have a 12-4 record. Notre Dame lost to Michigan, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, and Duke. Those four losses would have certainly hurt a fierce competitor like Hidalgo. The Fighting Irish have won their last two games and are looking to maintain that win streak. However, it wouldn’t be a walk in the park, as their next two games are against tough teams.
Notre Dame faces Louisville next, who are at the top of the Atlantic Coast with a 16-3 record. Louisville is ranked ninth and has been in terrific form. They have a winning streak of nine games and would be looking to extend it to 10 against Notre Dame. After Louisville, Hannah Hidalgo and company will face off against Geno Auriemma’s UConn, which is unbeaten right now. Hidalgo recently explained what Notre Dame needs to do for the blockbuster game.
“It is a completely different team now. What worked last year might not work this year. And this is gonna require a lot of different things for us to do this year in order to beat UConn. And I think we can’t have any mistakes. There are some things that we have to figure out, how to not make those mistakes when we play UConn. Because UConn of course is the best team in women’s basketball right now,” Hannah Hidalgo said.
Hannah Hidalgo Addresses Notre Dame’s Losses
Hidalgo discussed the team’s four losses and how they have bounced back every time. However, she doesn’t want her team to keep bouncing back.
“I think we have we’ve seen that, but we’re trying to get to a point where we’re not having to keep bouncing back. You know, we want to win, and we want to win consistently, and not have to lose in order to win big games. So, I think, hopefully the North Carolina game was the start of that,” Hidalgo said about her team’s consistency.
