Hannah Hidalgo’s Triple-Double Stands Above Caitlin Clark’s Iconic Game, As Per NCAA Analyst

According to NCAA analyst Kelly Gramlich, Notre Dame’s Sweet 16 win over Vanderbilt sets Hannah Hidalgo apart. She even compared the Fighting Irish star’s heroics with Caitlin Clark.

“I think her game against Vanderbilt, Brooke, you could look at that. And I know Caitlyn Clark exists. And there have been two 30-point triple-doubles in NCAA tournament history, one by Hannah Hidalgo, one by Caitlyn Clark,” Kelly Gramlich made a massive claim.

“I think that game against Vanderbilt, when you look at her roster, who she’s playing with, one other pro on her roster, the way she impacted the game on both ends of the floor, the steal numbers, the assists, the rebounds, I think it was the greatest individual performance that we’ve seen in the NCAA tournament. It was unbelievable,” Gremlich added.

“And she beat a really good team in Vanderbilt, went up against a player that might win National Player of the Year [Mikayla Blakes], and she was the best player on the floor by far. I’m still – I don’t think I’ve recovered from that Hannah Hidalgo performance in Vanderbilt. And she just puts on highlight after the next in the way that she’s able to understand the complete game,” she concluded.

Hannah Hidalgo has been an elite talent ever since she played her first game in college basketball. She committed to Notre Dame, and Coach Niele Ivey straightaway knew that she was a vital player for the team. Hidalgo has started every game she has played this season.

In the 2025-26 season, Hannah Hidalgo was on another level. She had many impactful games, as the opponents had absolutely no answer to her prowess. She was dominant and decisive all season. She even got high praise from Geno Auriemma, who dubbed her the best PG in college basketball.

Hannah Hidalgo’s Elite Season By Numbers

It is no secret that Hannah Hidalgo’s 2025-26 season is right up there with some of the greatest individual seasons in the history of college basketball. She averaged 25.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 5.6 steals.

This was the only time a player achieved 25+ points, 5+ rebounds, 5+ assists, 5+ steals in this century of college basketball. She also became the all-time single-season steals leader with 202 and set the NCAA record for single-game steals with 16. She also had the most assists in a single NCAA tournament – 29.

On top of that, she recorded only the second 30-point triple-double in the history of the NCAA Tournament with 31 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 steals against Vanderbilt. The only other player to do that was Caitlin Clark, when she had 41 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds against Louisville. Crazy to think that Hannah Hidalgo achieved all of that this year.
