    Players Departing

    1. Niamya Holloway

On Tuesday morning, Niamya Holloway shared her plans to enter the transfer portal with her fans.

“Gopher nation… ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a part of the Minnesota Golden Gophers. I have worked my whole life towards this, and though it didn’t come easy, I still got here. While this isn’t the tourney I had in mind, I know my story is still unfinished,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I am so grateful for my teammates who I’ve bonded with over the years, the fans who have encouraged me to keep my head up the whole way, and my family friends who never doubted. me. With that being said, I am ending my career at the University of Minnesota in an unimaginable way, and entering the transfer portal to continue my story.”

After attending Eden Prairie High School, Holloway joined Minnesota in 2021 along with Amaya Battle, Mara Braun and Mallory Heyer. Due to a season-ending injury, she couldn’t play in her freshman season and witnessed the coaching shift from Lindsay Whalen to Dawn Plitzuweit.

In three years with the program, the 6-footer has averaged 2.4 points and 2.2 rebounds in 8.4 minutes per game. The redshirt senior is now looking for a new program for her final season in college basketball.

    Players Arriving

No player has announced their intention to join Minnesota via the portal.

    Players Returning

After making it to the Sweet 16, head coach Dawn Plitzuweit has managed to bring the following players back:

    1. Mara Braun (Redshirt Senior, G)
    2. Grace Grocholski (Junior, G)
    3. Tori McKinney (Sophomore, G)
    4. Taylor Woodson (Forward)
    5. Makena Christian
    6. Kennedy Klick
    7. Brynn Senden
    8. Zoey Bershers

Assuming every other Minnesota player is brought back to the roster, the Gophers will still need to add three players to fill the vacant spots.
