Dawn Staley continues to grow the South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team by stacking up good talent. With the recent addition of French guard Justine Loubens the team roster looks stronger than ever heading into the 2026-27 season.
The team lost zero players to the transfer portal following the 2025-26 season. And this is the only SEC team to do so in NCAA women’s basketball.

What Justine Loubens Brings to Dawn Staley’s South Carolina
Justine Louben’s international resume stands out as the 6-foot-1 guard has played basketball professionally in France. She has represented her country across multiple youth levels, including strong performances at the FIBA tournament. And she notably shot over 52% from 3-point range during the U17 World Cup.
Staley herself emphasized that strength, calling Loubens one of the best shooters coming out of France.
“We’re excited to bring Justine into our Gamecock family. She is one of the best shooters coming out of France, and her experience playing for her club and national teams have helped prepare her for the SEC battles to come,” she said.
She has also previously played alongside fellow French addition Alicia Tournebize, giving the Gamecocks another advantage.
With Loubens now in the team, South Carolina’s roster appears very strong and complete. Despite losing three major players such as Raven Johnson, Ta’Niya Latson, and Madina Okot in the WNBA Draft, the team’s current roster still looks strong enough to make another deep March Madness run.
